On October 12, 2024, the long-awaited opening ceremony of the award-winning works exhibition for the second Venice International Watercolor Festival took place at the Trecento Palace in Treviso, Italy. This year's watercolor festival is one of the official projects authorized by the city of Venice to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo. It is organized by the Treviso City Hall and supervised by the president of the Shanghai China Foreign Cultural and Art Exchange Association.

The "Second International Watercolor Festival Per le Venezie" is a global watercolor art event jointly initiated and hosted by Associazione Culturale per gli Scambi Artistici and Shengxinyu Art, with the patronage of the Treviso City Hall in Italy and the support of Shanghai International Culture and Art Exchange Association. The event also received generous support in China from the renowned art brand "Rubens" art supplies. Since the global call for submissions for the festival began, it has garnered widespread response and enthusiastic support from artists, art enthusiasts, and students and faculty from art institutions around the world. The organizing committee received submissions from nearly twenty countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and China. After two rounds of rigorous evaluation by more than ten international judges from Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and China, the results have now been announced as follows:

Given the international influence of the Venice International Watercolor Festival and its contribution to cultural exchange, the 2024 Venice International Watercolor Festival has been included by the Venice Municipal Government in the commemorative activities for the 700th anniversary of the death of Marco Polo, serving as a model of artistic exchange between the East and the West and participating in the entire city's commemorative celebration activities. The preliminary round of the 2024 Venice International Watercolor Festival has come to an end, with a total of 280 artists from more than a dozen countries around the world advancing to the final stage. Shortlisted artists will be invited to participate in the live finals and exhibition at the Palazzo dei Trecento in Treviso, Italy, on October 12th!

According to statistics from the competition organizers, artists, students and faculty of art academies, and art enthusiasts from nearly thirty countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland (Northern Ireland), Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Australia, Turkey, Cyprus, Russia, Lithuania, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, South Africa, Ecuador, Japan, Pakistan, Seychelles, the United Arab Emirates, China, and others have submitted entries.
